Quick Notes ("we", "our", or "the extension") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. We believe that your personal thoughts, notes, and ideas belong solely to you. This Privacy Policy discloses what data is collected, how it is handled, and how your privacy is safeguarded when using the Quick Notes Chrome Extension and web application.
Zero Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal information or note contents to third parties or advertisers under any circumstances.
2. Information We Collect and Process
Quick Notes is designed with a local-first philosophy. We only collect the minimal data necessary to provide essential note-taking and account synchronization features:
Personally Identifiable Information (Email & Name): When you choose to sign in with Google or Email/Password, your email address, display name, and unique Firebase user ID are processed solely to authenticate your account and associate your encrypted cloud backup vault.
Authentication Information: Account credentials used during authentication are managed securely via Google Firebase Authentication. Password-protected locked notes store their lock validation hashes locally on your device.
User-Created Note Content: Your notes, folders, tags, pastel color choices, and reminders are saved locally in your browser's private storage (chrome.storage.local / localStorage). If cloud sync is active, notes are securely synced to your private Firebase vault.
Information We NEVER Collect: We do not track your browsing history, web pages visited, cookies, geolocation, search queries, or background keystrokes.
3. Chrome Extension Permissions Justification
Quick Notes requests only the necessary permissions required for its single purpose:
storage: Used to store your notes, categories, tags, pastel color schemes, and settings locally for instant offline access.
alarms & notifications: Used to trigger reminders and alert you when scheduled note alarms expire.
contextMenus: Allows you to highlight text on any web page, right-click, and select "Save to Quick Notes" without leaving your tab.
identity: Enables optional Google Sign-In authentication to access your cross-device notes vault.
tabs: Used to open the full-screen Quick Notes workspace in a new tab upon request.
host permissions (Firebase & Google APIs): Enables secure encrypted cloud synchronization and user authentication with Firebase servers.
4. Data Storage and Security
All user data is stored locally on your device by default. Cloud backups use industry-standard HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit and secure database storage protocols via Google Firebase. Furthermore, Quick Notes includes page lock protection to secure sensitive notes behind a password.
5. Data Retention & Your Rights
You have full control over your data at all times:
You can edit or delete individual notes, folders, and trash contents at any time.
Uninstalling the extension or clearing browser storage permanently deletes all local data from your device.
You may request complete deletion of any cloud-synced account data by signing out or contacting support.
6. Developer Program Policy Compliance
Quick Notes complies strictly with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the Single Purpose and Limited Use requirements. All data collected is strictly for user-facing note-taking functionality.
